U.S. Department of Education Hispanic Serving Institution Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (HSI-STEM) grants aim to (1) increase the number of Hispanic and/or low-income students attaining degrees in the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics; and (2) develop model transfer and articulation agreements between two-year and four-year institutions in such fields.
MCC’s HSI-STEM Guided Pathways Enhancement Project also aims to support student-centered program services and activities to improve student outcomes. The project proposal was submitted to the U.S. Department of Education with letters of support from Mesa Public Schools and Arizona State University. Key grant activities include

expanding the Early College Academy to all Mesa Public Schools high schools

increasing the STEM teacher pipeline with Mesa Public Schools

providing advisement and counseling services to early college students

refining and expanding academic pathways in the STEM areas from high school to MCC to university transfer

cultivating undergraduate research opportunities for faculty and students
