Community Engagement Expo

Event Description: This is a free recruitment event hosted by the Center for Community & Civic Engagement for MCC community partners to recruit students to complete their service-learning projects and/or find volunteers.

Volunteer Duties: Volunteers are needed to help with set-up, clean-up, staff check-in/information table, pass out goodies, assist attendees, and other logistics as needed. It is a great opportunity to serve and learn more about the community! You can serve for the whole event or a shift (i.e. 9:00am to 12:00pm).

Special Olympics Arizona Regional Golf Tournament

Location: Rolling Hills Golf Course 1415 N. Mill Ave. in Tempe

Event Description: This is the 2014 Regional Golf Tournament for Special Olympics Arizona, held at Rolling Hills Golf Course, 1415 N Mill Ave in Tempe. Additional shift for Individual skills competition from 8am - 2pm.

Volunteer Duties: Volunteers are needed to act as scorekeepers while escorting teams on the course. Individual Skills volunteers will assist athletes at skills stations such as chipping and putting. No experience is necessary to come out and volunteer.

Mesa Sprint Triathlon

Event Description: 2014 is the fourth year for this short distance swim, bike and run race. There are around 400 participants and it includes an event for kids. It is a fundraiser for Mesa Parks and Recreation programs.

Event Description: Join us on Sunday, November 9, 2014 as we ride together to raise money and awareness in the fight against cystic fibrosis. Get your wheels in motion and cycle at your own pace through some of the most scenic terrain in North Scottsdale, and Cave Creek. This unique event empowers participants to take action and demonstrate their fight in finding a cure for CF in a tangible, emotional and powerful way.

Girls on the Run 5K

Event Description: Come out and join Girls on the Run serving Maricopa and Pinal Counties for a fun-filled 5k! The event is open to the public- men, women and children and participants of all levels are welcome. It also serves as the final event for valley girls who've participated in the fall Girls on the Run season. Girls on the Run inspires girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

Volunteer Duties: Set up, take down, work registration, distribute giveaways, check in Running Buddies, work water station, and distribute drinks and snacks. All volunteers will receive a T-shirt and snacks.

The Salvation Army Christmas Assistance

Event Description: During the Christmas season (the day after Thanksgiving) through Christmas Eve, we ring bells to raise money so that we can serve more people and we prepare and distribute Angel Tree gifts for children whose families need help.

Arizona Summit on Volunteerism and Service-Learning

Event Description: 
The Summit consists of two full days of engaging plenary speakers, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities designed to inspire, energize and mobilize volunteer leaders and service-learning practitioners of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

Led by a dedicated group of volunteer and service-learning leaders who collaborate to organize this annual, statewide event in conjunction with many local and national partners, the Summit provides the opportunities for individuals and groups to further develop and foster their skills to better serve Arizona’s real community needs through collaborative efforts.

Free Admission Day at i.d.e.a. Museum

Dates: 12/7/2014

Location: i.d.e.a. Museum, 150 W Pepper Pl, Mesa, AZ 85201

Times: 12:00 - 5:00pm

Description: On the first Sunday of each month, the i.d.e.a. Museum offers free admission to families. These first Sundays tend to be very busy and extra help is always appreciated. Volunteers assist by taking surveys, monitoring museum galleries to ensure a fun and safe learning environment, restock supplies and assist with gallery upkeep. Come and join us!
