CHM151

General Chemistry I

Detailed study of principles of chemistry for science majors, engineering majors, and students in pre-professional curricula. Serves to prepare the student for CHM152, or CHM230. Lecture (3 credits, 3 periods)

Prerequisites: Prerequisites: A grade of "C" or better in [(CHM130 and CHM130LL), or one year of high school chemistry taken within the last five years] and (MAT151 or higher level mathematics course). Completion of all prerequisites within the last two years is recommended.
Corequisites: None. CHM151LL is recommended (and is needed to meet the Natural Science requirement).

Study of the chemical properties of the major groups of elements, equilibrium theory, thermodynamics, electrochemistry, and other selected topics. Serves to prepare the student for CHM235. Lecture (3 credits, 3 periods)

Prerequisites: A grade of "C" or better in [(CHM150 or CHM151) and CHM151LL], or CHM150AA, or CHM151AA. Completion of prerequisites within the last two years recommended.
Corequisites: None. CHM152LL is recommended (and is needed to meet the Natural Science requirement).

Chemistry of organic compounds, emphasizing biological applications to meet the needs of students in agriculture, home economics, nursing, pre-physician assistant, and physical education. Lecture (3 credits, 3 periods)

Prerequisites: (CHM130 and CHM130LL) or (CHM150 or CHM151 and CHM151LL) Completion of (CHM130 and CHM130LL) or (CHM150 or CHM151 and CHM151LL) within the last two years recommended.

Prerequisites: A grade of "C" or better in (CHM152 and CHM152LL), or CHM152AA, or (CHM154 and CHM154LL). Completion of prerequisites within the last two years recommended. Enrollment in CHM235LL recommended.
