Fundamental Chemistry

Elements of general chemistry for all students. Serves to prepare the student for CHM151, or CHM230. Lecture (3 credits, 3 periods)

General Chemistry I

Detailed study of principles of chemistry for science majors, engineering majors, and students in pre-professional curricula. Serves to prepare the student for CHM152, or CHM230. Lecture (3 credits, 3 periods)

Prerequisites: Prerequisites: A grade of "C" or better in [(CHM130 and CHM130LL), or one year of high school chemistry taken within the last five years] and (MAT151 or higher level mathematics course). Completion of all prerequisites within the last two years is recommended.
Corequisites: None. CHM151LL is recommended (and is needed to meet the Natural Science requirement).

General Chemistry I Lab

Laboratory experience in support of CHM151. Lab (1 credit, 3 periods)

General Chemistry II

Study of the chemical properties of the major groups of elements, equilibrium theory, thermodynamics, electrochemistry, and other selected topics. Serves to prepare the student for CHM235. Lecture (3 credits, 3 periods)

Prerequisites: A grade of "C" or better in [(CHM150 or CHM151) and CHM151LL], or CHM150AA, or CHM151AA. Completion of prerequisites within the last two years recommended.
Corequisites: None. CHM152LL is recommended (and is needed to meet the Natural Science requirement).

General Chemistry II Lab

Laboratory experience in support of CHM152. Lab (1 credit, 3 periods)

Fundamental Organic Chemistry

Chemistry of organic compounds, emphasizing biological applications to meet the needs of students in agriculture, home economics, nursing, pre-physician assistant, and physical education. Lecture (3 credits, 3 periods)

General Organic Chemistry I

Rigorous introduction to chemistry of carbon-containing compounds. Reaction mechanisms and recent methods of synthesis emphasized. Prepares the student for CHM236 and/or CHM260. Lecture (3 credits, 3 periods)

Prerequisites: A grade of "C" or better in (CHM152 and CHM152LL), or CHM152AA, or (CHM154 and CHM154LL). Completion of prerequisites within the last two years recommended. Enrollment in CHM235LL recommended.

Fundamental Biochemistry

Structures, properties, and functions of proteins, enzymes, nucleic acids, carbohydrates and lipids; the utilization and synthesis of these materials by living systems and the relationship of the processes to energy production and utilization. Designed for students in agriculture, dental hygiene, home economics, nursing, and physical therapy. Lecture (3 credits, 3 periods)

Prerequisites: A grade of "C" or better in (CHM230 and CHM230LL) or (CHM235 and CHM235LL). Completion of prerequisites within the last two years recommended. Enrollment in CHM260LL recommended.
