Eligibility Changes for MCC President’s Honors Scholarship

MESA, Ariz. – Beginning with the 2014-2015 academic year, The Mesa Community College (MCC) President’s Honors Scholarship will be available to students who graduate in the top 20 percent of their high school class or complete high school with a GPA of 3.0 or above, successfully test into MCC’s Honors Program, and enroll at MCC within two academic semesters following high school graduation.

The President’s Honors Scholarship is a scholarship available at Mesa Community College for incoming recent high school graduates that covers in-state/in-county tuition for up to 15 credit hours for four consecutive semesters. To retain the scholarship students must maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA, be enrolled in at least 12 credits each semester - including a satisfactory completion of at least one Honors course, and complete two co-curricular activities each semester.

“The availability of this scholarship makes it possible for a student to obtain a two-year degree at virtually no cost,” said Kathleen Perales, Mesa Community College Associate Dean of Student Affairs. “Student success is our goal. We work with students on an individual basis to determine the best pathway to success.”

Students eligible for the scholarship are admitted into MCC’s Honors Program at MCC, which offers a comprehensive program that includes Honors-only classes with a maximum class size of 20 in a variety of disciplines,  as well as other academic benefits, undergraduate research opportunities, cultural and social events, and more and other academic benefits.
