Information Sessions

No appointment necessary - Information Sessions are held three times every week at the Southern and Dobson location.

Students are required to attend one of these sessions which provide in-depth information, enrollment guidance, and academic advising on the Nursing program.

Interested students should attend one of the sessions specific to the Paramedic to RN Bridge Program. No Appointment is needed. Sessions will cover in-depth information related to the enrollment and the instructor is available to answer any questions.

Advising

Students who have attended an Advising and Information session may see a Nursing Advisor one-on-one using the code provided in the Information Session.

After attending an Information Session, you may meet with an advisor for one-on-one advising with the code you are given in the session.

  • Tuesdays from 10:30am-1:00pm and 2:00pm-5:00pm
  • Thursdays from 8:30am - 1:00pm and 2:00pm - 5:00pm

Required Scores

As of November 1, 2014 the required scores on the HESI A2 exam is an English Composite Score of 80% or higher, and a Math Score of 75% or higher.

*HESI-A2 Exam will not be available during the first or last week of any semester or the week prior to finals. Please plan accordingly.

  • Effective September 1, 2014: HESI A-2 Testing cost is $40 for the 4 hour exam. 
  • There is a four hour time limit for the HESI A2.
  • Please arrive 30 minutes early to make payment and create a HESI account.  Walk-in only, no appointment needed.
  • Current photo ID needed.

Program Information

On May 26ththe MCCCD Governing Board approved a revised curriculum for MaricopaNursing. This 2015 curriculum is reflective of contemporary nursing practice and integrates Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) and Nurse of the Future competencies.  It also aligns with the 2013 changes to theArizona State Board of Nursing curriculum expectations (see Nurse Practice Act Rules R4-19-206), and Accrediting Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) Standard and Criteria for Curriculum.

A student follows the curriculum to which they were admitted; the 2008 and 2015 curriculum will be taught within all colleges offering the AAS in nursing through December 2016.

All new students entering block 1 of MaricopaNursing on or after July 1, 2015 will follow the newly approved Program of Study.    Changes to prerequisite courses include​:

1.       MAT140, 141, or 142 or higher College Mathematics is now the required math course, rather than MAT120. 

2.       ENG101 First year Composition becomes a prerequisite course to entering the program. 

3.       PSY101 Introduction to Psychology is a course that is required to be completed prior to or with NUR172.

To assure adequate communication of these changes, and allow time for those currently submitting applications to meet the changed requirement, a one-semester grace period will be provided.

Applications submitted through January 31, 2016 will be accepted with completion of MAT120 or higher. However, students must complete MAT142 and ENG101 prior to graduation.

Our Main campus is located at Southern & Dobson in Mesa, offering the benefit of a full-service campus.

Students who complete the nursing program of study achieve an Associate of Arts in Applied Science (AAS) degree, and are well prepared to take the National Council for Licensure Examination Registered Nurse exam, referred to as the NCEX-RN. Our graduates have had a long history of passing the NCLEX-RN exam on the first attempt at a percentage higher than the national average.
