Financial Aid Services BrochureAll financial aid starts with the completion of the online FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Follow the steps listed below to get started.

If you have not officially been admitted to the College, you must do that first before you apply for financial aid. Admissions is a part of the New Student Checklist.

Step 1 - Complete the FAFSA

MCC's Federal School Code is 001077

Documents you need to complete the FAFSA

  • PIN (Personal Identification Number)
  • Social Security Number
  • Driver's License Number (If applicable)
  • Alien Registration Number (If applicable)
  • Income Tax Return or W-2's
  • Records of Untaxed Income (i.e. social security benefits)

Go to the FAFSA Online website and get started. Make note of MCC's school code: 001077.

The Department of Education must receive your application no later than June 30 for the previous school year. See the Important Dates page to make sure you do not miss a deadline.

Step 2 - We Review Your Application

Other documentation which you may need to provide can include

  • Federal Tax Returns - we will not accept hand written tax forms
  • W-2 wages statements
  • Citizenship information
  • Social Security Number Verification
  • Other income resource information
  • Selective Service Registration
  • Proof of Ability to Benefit - high school diploma, GED, or passing placement scores

Once we receive your financial aid data from the Department of Education (DOE) federal processor, we will notify you through your online Message Center inside of your Student Center if we require additional forms or documents. Only after all required forms have been submitted can we begin your review.

The purpose of the review is to determine your individual financial need and your eligibility to receive financial aid.

As a general rule, allow 30 days for processing depending on the time of year. As the beginning of classes approaches, our volume increases, and it takes longer to process your file. Errors or inconsistencies can also slow the process. Find out about disbursement here.

Step 3 - Your Award Letter

Please Remember

  • All students are responsible for any tuition or fees not covered by financial aid.

Once your FAFSA, and all submitted forms and documents have been reviewed, we will package your financial aid award.  A message notifying you of your financial aid award will be sent to your Message Center. You can also review your award letter on your online Student Center at

If you decide to apply for loans, read more on the Student Loans page.

It is important that you notify MCC Student Financial Services immediately if there are changes to your expected enrollment or if there are any changes to your name, address, or immigration status.

Keep your Award Notification letter with your records.

Federal Work Study

If you've been offered Federal Work Study, the Career & Reentry Services will assist you in finding a job on campus. Review the Federal Work Study guidelines here.
