Dr. Jeffrey Andelora is a leader, both locally and nationally, in the teaching of English. Jeff has taught at MCC since 1996 and has been elected by his peers to serve as Chair of the English Department since 2007. He currently serves MCC as the Interim Dean of Instruction for Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, a leadership position that enables him to help establish the strategic direction and policy that impact the heart and soul of MCC’s enterprise: teaching and learning.
Jeff’s service to the college includes appointments to numerous councils within the Maricopa Community Colleges that shape policy related to dual enrollment, course placement, and curriculum. He was instrumental in initiating District curricular reform for first-year composition and developmental writing, and he spearheaded the move for the District adoption of a more reliable English course placement instrument.
Jeff currently serves as Chair of the Two-Year College English Association, the national organization for two-year college English faculty. He is on the executive committees for both the National Conference of Teachers of English and the Conference on College Composition and Communication. Jeff has authored numerous articles for the national journal Teaching English in the Two-Year College, one of which won the 2005 Best Article of the Year Award. He regularly presents at professional conferences and is under contract with W.W. Norton Publishers to write a textbook for developmental writers.
As he’s transitioned from the classroom to administration, Jeff is steadfast in his commitment to student success, faculty growth, and developing innovative programs that support teaching and learning.
