Thomas Watkins is an all-time leading scorer in MCC basketball history with 1,166 points and 261 assists. Playing on the 1997-98 MCC Region 1 Championship team, Thomas was ACCAC Freshman of the Year, 1998-1999 ACCAC 1st Team All Conference, and 1998-1999 NJCAA All-American. He was also on the ACCAC 1997 Second Team and 1998 First Team. He was recruited to play at Iowa State University during the 1999-2000 season. The team was Big 12 Conference and Tournament Champions beating Auburn and UCLA during conference play. When he went to Brigham Young University-Hawaii for the 2004-2005 season, he was named Pac West Newcomer of the Year for averaging 15 points, 5 assists, and 2 steals per game. The team was the Pac West Conference Champions and Thomas was named to the Pac West 2nd Team All Conference.

Known for his dedication to put in the hard work to be the best, Thomas remains actively involved in sports in his community, mentoring student athletes in South Phoenix. Going from high school ball in the Valley to community college and then to a major university, Thomas continues to be an inspiration for young student athletes.
