About the composer: Charles Mingus (1922-1979), a native of Nogales, Arizona, is an important bassist, bandleader, and composer in the history of jazz. Early in his career, he gained attention as a prodigal bassist and then as a bandleader/composer. He was a proponent of collective improvisation and many of his pieces include elements of Avant-Garde and Classical influences.
We hope you enjoy our selections from the library of Charles Mingus.
* Accessible seats are in rows G and Q. Per Maricopa Community College District policy we will be requiring everyone to wear a face covering when inside any of our college facilities. We are also currently running our venues with a reduced capacity to allow for physical distancing.
