About this event
Mesa Community College Dance, in collaboration with MCC Performing Arts Facilities, presents THE ART OF HEALING: a multi-media live dance event taking place on MCC’s Southern and Dobson campus on November 20th and 21st, 2020. This performance will be a “drive-in” style event featuring a combination of live dance solos and pre-recorded video elements open to the community.
Dance is movement and movement is the process of ongoing change. Moving with one’s whole self, with and against gravity, students learn to both yield and resist: to feel one’s strength and to feel one’s vulnerability, to try on new qualities of action and behavior. This process is what it means to be fully human. In this time where our students are grappling with isolation and its impact on wellbeing, dance has become not only connective tissue allowing a deeper sense of presence but also healing from the trauma associated with this time of anxiety and depression.
This will be a free event. Doors open at 6 pm.
The event will be performed in Parking Lot D at Mesa Community College's Southern & Dobson campus. You will need to tell the parking attendant what stage you are going to as well.
