Bring your family and enjoy a light-hearted concert of live music with your very own Phoenix Symphony. This one-hour performance is a wonderful introduction to the world of symphonic music. The concert opens with the easily recognizable Barber of Seville by Gioaccino Rossini, used in cartoons, movies and commercials over the years. Then enjoy Manuel de Falla’s Three Dances from Three Cornered Hat, a ballet infused with traditional melodies. This short program culminates with Beethoven’s Second Symphony full of spirited energy, revealing the composer’s ingenious musical jokes and resilience amid personal challenges. Associate conductor Alex Amsel leads the Symphony through this Free Community Concert. Whether you are young or just young at heart, a “Youth Concert Program” with educational information and activities designed around the repertoire will be available for attendees.
