"My current work is inspired by folk art and painted wooden boxes from Mexico. I love the deep carving, the simplistic flatness of the image, the speckle and grit of the background, and then the final explosion of color and line. I am obsessed with the boldness of a floating white petal punctuated by a fire-engine red center. I want lines that dance and sing in the curve of vine and leaf snaking their way around the form. I want to create a simple, lovely, functional objects that will bring beauty to everyday use."
