Ronna Nemitz and Debra Everett address the current world health crisis in Wave. The artists use remnants of ordinary household linens and transform them into an expanding memorial for the Covid-19 pandemic victims. Over 2000 masks are knotted together, a metaphoric presence of individual lives lost and the world community undergoing a catastrophe. Wave is part of a larger scale exploration of experiences and states of loss during the Covid-19 pandemic called the Lost Project. The artists plan to continue to make masks to align with the number of deaths to Covid-19 in Arizona.
