November 6, 2024 (6-8 PM)
Native American Heritage Month Distinguished Speaker Kickoff Event

Location: Navajo Room
Join us for an inspiring evening featuring Miss Navajo Nation, Ranisha Begay, presenting "Navajo Stories as Tools for Teaching and Healing." Experience the transformative power of traditional stories in education and healing. The Honorable Crystalyne Curley, Speaker of the House for the Navajo Nation, will deliver the keynote address, "Building Resilience and Perseverance," sharing insights on cultivating a growth mindset and thriving through lifes setbacks. Enjoy a captivating performance by special guest Cooper Nez, an Indigenous youth hoop dancer.

Live Tipi Demonstration

Location: MCC North Lawn (near clock tower)
Experience the cultural significance of the tipi in our Live Tipi Demonstration. Leo Dayish and Dr. Delphina Dayish will guide attendees through the traditional process of setting up a tipi, discussing its historical importance and contemporary relevance in Indigenous culture while encouraging audience interaction and engagement.

American Indian Student Conference

Location: Gateway Community College
Join us for the American Indian Student Conference, a dynamic event designed to empower Indigenous students through networking, learning, and cultural exchange. Miss Native MCC Pageant

Celebrate the Miss Native MCC Pageant, themed "Awakening the Legacy of Cultural Beauty." Contestants will inspire pride and representation through their skills, grace, and commitment to community.

ISO Skoden Rez Market

Location: MCC North Lawn
