Want to spark Jordan Zimmerman’s interest? Want to see his eyes widen, his motor rev up and his focus tighten?
Tell him he can’t compete with upper tier college baseball players. Tell him he’s a good player, but not quite good enough.
Then watch the 6-foot, 200-pounder from Mesa, Ariz., smash a baseball over the fence — which he did Monday afternoon in a 6-5 La Crosse Loggers win over Madison in the first game of a scheduled day-night doubleheader — with head-turning swing.
This kid belongs. Period.
Mesa Community College knew it. Michigan State, where Zimmerman is heading this fall, knows it. And so does Chris Goodell, the Loggers’ general manager.
