Alumnus brings Farmers Market to MCC Red Mountain

RM Farmers Market flier MESA, Arizona — Oct. 24, 2018 —The community is invited to the inaugural Farmers Market at Mesa Community College at Red Mountain, 7110 E. McKellips Rd., on Oct. 27 from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. Local produce, meats, eggs and other local farmers market products will be available. More than 50 artisan vendors as well as food trucks will be at the market. Markets will be held at MCC Red Mountain every Saturday starting October 27, establishing a great location for shopping and healthy food.

The idea for the market comes from MCC alumnus Ryan Alarie, owner of RA Seasonings in Tempe. RA Seasonings provide a healthy way to add flavor to everyday meats, fish, salads and vegetables. Alarie plans to contribute a percentage of his revenue from the Farmers Market toward student scholarships, giving back to the community that has nurtured his own development.

“From living in the East Valley community my entire life, I know that there is a need for healthy food and fresh produce,” Alarie said. “I’d like to provide access to local produce and local vendors to promote healthier lifestyles. It’s my way of giving back to the college and community.”

Alarie reminds community members that if they can’t make it to the Market on Oct. 27 to plan to attend on another Saturday. The Red Mountain Farmers Market will be open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through May, making fresh produce and healthy food more readily available for our East Mesa community.
