MESA, Arizona – February 2, 2018 – Mesa Community College invites the community to enjoy an encore performance of “Story Theatre” on Feb. 8 in preparation for the Region VIII Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF).
MCC Theatre and Film Arts students perform “Story Theatre” in the 60-seat MCC Theatre/EXP Studio Theatre at 7 p.m., Feb. 8. Information about the family-friendly show and a link to reserve seats is on the Arts at MCC website mesacc.edu/arts/Zfa.
“The Festival itself is a closed competition. This “Story Theatre” performance allows our community to experience a piece of what attendees will be privileged to during the KCACTF’s 50th theatre competition,” said MCC Theatre Production Manager Chris Tubilewicz. “It also gives our students an opportunity to perform in a more intimate venue in advance of the competition.”
The Festival, once again hosted by MCC, brings over 1,300 faculty and students from more than 70 colleges from Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah to Mesa to compete and enjoy local hotels, restaurants and attractions, contributing to the local business economy and furnishing first-hand experiences of what makes MCC and Mesa popular destinations.
“The MCC Theatre and Performing Arts Center were key factors in the college being selected to host the prestigious Region VIII Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for a second time, said Sasan Poureetezadi, MCC interim president. “Voter approval of the 2004 Maricopa County Community College District Bond and generous contributions from faculty, staff, alumni and community donors funded the renovation and construction of these extraordinary venues.
