MCC Career and Technical Programs prepare students for industry-relevant careers

Screen shot of CTE videoMESA, Arizona – February 1, 2018 – Mesa Community College Career and Technical Education Programs provide students of all ages with relevant skills, knowledge and training to qualify for high-wage, high-demand 21st century careers.

Harvard University predicts that in 2018, only 33 percent of all jobs will require a four-year degree, and that many desirable jobs will only need an industry credential or associate’s degree. For every job requiring a master’s degree, there are two jobs requiring a four-year degree and seven requiring a one-year certificate or two-year degree.

“More than half of all jobs in Arizona call for an education beyond high school but not a four-year degree,” said Sasan Poureetezadi, MCC interim president. “Our collaborative industry partnerships like those with Apple, Boeing, Caterpillar and Disney equip students with the vital job skills needed to compete in today’s economy. Our goal is to propel our students toward success in the workforce, positioning our city and state with the talent necessary for our region to thrive.”

“Our Career and Technical Education programs are nationally recognized for providing the most current and relevant training for today’s workforce, providing flexible schedules and assisting with job placement,” said Michael Voss, MCC Dean of Career & Technical Education. “Labor market data and our industry-experienced faculty working directly with local employers ensure programming remains relevant as industry evolves.”
