MCC Dental Hygiene Program Receives Accreditation from CODA
MESA, Ariz. – The American Dental Association’s (ADA) Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) awarded accreditation to Mesa Community College’s Dental Hygiene Program after a year-long process of accreditation self-study and program review.
Graduating from an accredited program assures students of a high caliber, quality-focused education. Additionally, as part of licensure requirements to practice dental hygiene, only graduates from an accredited program are qualified to take the National Dental Hygiene Board Exam.
MCC’s program concluded the process on Jan. 31 with three site visitors from CODA. The representatives arrived for two days of faculty interviews and site evaluation. The program received complimentary marks for process, procedure and student outcomes in all six of CODA's dental hygiene standards.
“The program also received accolades for their focus on personal development through mindful practices, creativity of student engagement and community service,” said Debbie Holexa, Dental Hygiene Director at MCC. “We are grateful for and proud of all the faculty, staff and administration who have supported the Dental Hygiene Program at MCC.”
The next accreditation process for MCC’s Dental Hygiene Program will be in 2021.
