MESA, Arizona – March 21, 2016 – Mesa Community College’s Annual Festival of the Arts will feature student musicians, poets, storytellers, dancers, and actors on Thursday, March 31 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at MCC’s Southern and Dobson Campus. The event is free and open to the public.
"The festival celebrates student talent from multiple artistic disciplines," said organizer and MCC art faculty member Gingher Leyendecker. "The event creates collaboration between people who might not otherwise work together and gives the public an idea of what our students are learning at MCC. We have the art, music, dance, theatre, English, fashion merchandising, and interior design departments participating, as well as several MCC student clubs. It's going to be an amazing day."
The festival will host two stages between the MCC Theatre and Art Gallery where attendees can view students from various disciplines performing their talents. The sound for these performances will be run by MCC’s Audio Production Technologies program, the DJ class will play music and emcee the event.
Tents will be set up around campus for artists to sell and display their work. Visual demonstrations in painting, drawing, and ceramics will occur throughout the day.
MCC student clubs will be selling food during the festival.
