MCC Theatre announces auditions for Shakespeare’s ​Othello

MESA, Arizona -- September 25, 2015 -- Mesa Community College (MCC) Theatre & Film Arts Department encourages local actors to audition for Othello roles. Auditions are scheduled for October 5 & 6, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., in room TH2, located in the Mesa Community College Theatre building (1833 W. Southern Ave. Mesa, AZ).

Actors will have two and a half minutes total to: A) Introduce him/herself and the two memorized monologues s/he will be performing; and, B) Perform two contrasting monologues, one of which should be from Shakespeare. Time will be called if the actor exceeds the two-and-a-half-minute time limit.

Actors should also bring a headshot and resume if available, though not required. It is recommended that actors arrive at least 15 minutes early to their scheduled audition appointment to complete an audition form. From these prepared auditions, some actors will receive callback notification to perform cold readings from scenes from the Othello scripts on October 6 between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Casting will result soon after these callback cold readings are held.
