MESA, Arizona -- August 8, 2024 -- Mesa Community College (MCC) and the Appraisal Institute, the largest group of real property valuers in the nation, collaborate to remove barriers for MCC students to seamlessly meet real estate appraisal licensure requirements into the appraisal profession. This partnership strengthens MCC’s Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Licensed Residential Appraiser Degree by providing access to online real property valuation courses from the Appraisal Institute.
Valuing real estate requires research, analysis and expertise and reflects the skill set that is the key driver of wealth creation. MCC is the first college in the country to receive degree review program approval on its AAS in Licensed Residential Appraiser from The Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB) of the Appraisal Foundation.
Key elements of the program Include:
- MCC Associate in Applied Science, Licensed Residential Appraiser Academic Plan
- The Appraisal Institute’s online real property valuation courses, as well as,
- Access to the Appraisal Institute Practical Applications of Real Estate Appraisal (AI PAREA) program
The Appraisal Institute’s Practical Applications of Real Estate Appraisal (PAREA) is an alternative path to the traditional supervisor-trainee model, developed to make the path into the profession more flexible and accessible.
In addition, MCC students will have access to online PAREA courses, receive guidance and mentorship from the Appraisal Institute members, providing practical skills and leading industry perspectives.
“This collaboration marks a significant step towards advancing appraisal education and preparing students for success in the dynamic field of real estate appraisal,” said MCC Real Estate Program Director John Beshk.
“We are committed to reaching the next generation of diverse professionals. As appraisers age out of the profession at high rates, we want a new generation to know what a fascinating, flexible and fun career appraising can be! For students who do not become appraisers, understanding real property valuation is key to understanding the fundamentals of many jobs in real estate,” said Cindy Chance, CEO of the Appraisal Institute. “We’re thrilled to reach MCC students and welcome interest from community colleges in other parts of the country!”
