Mesa Councilmember David Luna to chair MCC Red Mountain Community Advisory Committee

MESA, Arizona – Sept. 22, 2016 -- Mesa Community College at Red Mountain has re-established its Community Advisory Committee to help develop plans to support student success and meet workforce development needs of the East Valley.

“The Community Advisory Committee was instrumental in the formative years of our campus, 15 years ago,” said Nora Reyes, MCC Red Mountain Vice Provost. “We are very pleased with the support we’ve received and look forward to collaborating to formulate effective responses to current realities, needs and opportunities provided by today’s educational climate.”

Mesa City Councilmember David Luna, who represents District 5, where the Red Mountain campus is located, will serve as chair of the Advisory Committee. Of the appointment he said, “I look forward to leading committee members, representatives and community stakeholders in providing the college with valuable insights and perspectives to guide and support MCC’s Red Mountain campus to meet the needs of students and the business community, their future employers.”

The Advisory Committee will meet quarterly. Its first meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 5 from 7:30-9:00 a.m. in the Community Room (M200) at the MCC Red Mountain campus (7110 E. McKellips Rd.).
