Fire Science

Firefighter jobs require individuals who possess an elite mindset and physical nature. If you have an innate desire to help others and are physically fit and active, consider a career in firefighting.

The Fire Science program will train you for a potential career in the fire service industry and prepare you for state and national certifications, including the Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations certification, Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT), and Firefighter I and II certifications. You’ll gain the skills and broad knowledge needed to serve as an effective firefighter working in a team environment. Qualified instructors will explain theories of fire behavior and methods of fire control and prevention. They will also teach you how to properly use personal firefighting safety gear and firefighting equipment. You’ll master the physical tasks of the job and learn how to mitigate the hazards inherent in firefighting.

Get credit for your industry training. MCC offers Prior Learning Assessments (PLA) for students with existing industry certifications, licenses, and approved corporate training. Access the forms below and attach proof of training/certification when you submit your request.
