MCC Educators Academy Workshops

Community members working in or exploring the P-12 teaching field are invited to participate in FREE MCC Educators Academy workshops that are geared to inspire a greater enthusiasm for teaching and to promote effective education practices. Certificates to demonstrate proof of participation as well as door prizes are provided at each workshop.

Courses for Teacher Recertification

Certified teachers need either 6 semester credits of coursework, or 90 clock hours, or a combination of both, to renew their Arizona teaching credential. Refer to the Arizona Department of Education for full current recertification details: www.azed.gov. Courses for credit can be selected from the MCC Education Studies Department course offerings: Child and Family Studies (CFS), Early Childhood Education (ECH), Education (EDU), or Eary Education (EED). Or, teachers may choose to enroll in other courses relevant to the field such as a foreign language or a computer skills course. Refer to the MCC Class Schedule. For questions about using MCC courses toward teacher recertification, contact the MCC Education Studies department at education@mesacc.edu.

Teacher Endorsement Courses:

Teacher endorsement courses offered through MCC are scheduled only upon school or school district request when there are at least twenty certified / practicing educators committed to meet as cohorts in evening or summer classes together. [Exception: some courses that count toward SEI, ESL and Early Childhood endorsements are regularly offered as they are also needed to fulfill undergraduate program requirements.] Teacher endorsement cohort classes may be held on-site in the requesting school district’s buildings or at an MCC campus. If twenty educators in your school or district are interested in starting an on-site cohort, please contact us at 480-461-7904.

The following MCC Certificates of Completion (CCL) and Academic Certificates (AC) are now on moratorium, but individual Educator Professional Development (EPD) and Excellence in Teaching and Learning (ETL) classes will remain in the course bank. They may be offered as professional development for groups of at least twenty certified / practicing educators. Refer to the Arizona Department of Education for full current endorsement details: www.azed.gov. To see the EPD, ETL, CFS, ECH, EDU and EED course bank, go to https://curriculum.maricopa.edu/course. In the Quick Course Search field for Subject/Number, type in the three letters of the subject code and click Go.
