Why Honors?

Honors Scholarships available for those who qualify

Scholarships are available to new students who have completed a secondary education program in Maricopa County (including NCA-accredited, charter, private, religious high schools, homeschool), with a final, unweighted, GPA of 3.25 or higher OR continuing students who hold a minimum cumulative district-wide GPA of 3.25 or higher and have a minimum of twelve (12) completed credit hours (must be 100 level or above) at one or any combination of the MCCCD college(s).

Graduate from the Honors Program!

To graduate from the Honors Program, students must meet the following requirements:

  • To graduate from the Honors Program, a student must be eligible to graduate from the college and must meet the additional requirements that include a 3.5 MCCCD cumulative district-wide grade point average, completion of fifteen (15) credit hours in Honors coursework.
  • Complete the Steps to Graduation and submit two applications:

Honors Program Graduates are recognized in the MCC Graduation Program and the achievement is noted on your transcript.

Honors Program Graduates also qualify for benefits like reduced honors course-work when they transfer to in-state Honors Programs at ASU, UA and NAU.

Successful Transfer

The MCC education has been shown to positively impact the academic performance of students in their university studies. In fact, a recent study of MCC students who transferred to an Arizona state university revealed that as the number of MCC transfer credits increased, so did the student's first-year GPA at the university (with an average of 3.0 for all MCC students). Study Abroad

Earn transferable college credit while experiencing a foreign culture. MCC's study abroad programs enable you the opportunity to study in different cultures and provides free time to explore unique areas of the world. MCC offers Study Abroadprograms to Europe, Ireland, Mexico, Spain, Belgium, China and Italy.
