Diana Occhiuzzi received an Associate of Arts degree from MCC in 1969. After graduating from ASU she later became a high school teacher in Tempe for 27 of her 40-year education career. She has worked at the Arizona Department of Education as the Fashion Forum Event Coordinator since 2010, and has won numerous awards for teaching excellence and student service. She also has been involved in dozens of community volunteer service events, from the Red Cross and Ronald McDonald House to Salvation Army, St. Mary’s Food Bank, and Paz de Cristo, among others.

Diana Occhiuzzi has also remained engaged and enthusiastic about MCC in a variety of activities, events and causes over the years. She’s been a member of the MCC Alumni Board, serving as chairperson multiple years, and has volunteered her time for Homecoming and numerous other MCC activities. She’s been a featured speaker at more than one MCC Graduation ceremony, and was a featured speaker at MCC’s 40th and 50th anniversary celebrations.  She recently helped design and install MCC 50th anniversary traveling display at multiple locations throughout the East Valley.

Diana graduated from ASU with a Bachelor of Arts in 1972, and has completed graduate work at three different universities. She is the winner of the 2009 Tempe Diablos Outstanding Teacher Award, and the 2012 Arizona Family and Consumer Sciences Education Distinguished Service Award.
