What happened at the Psychology Spring Symposium 2023
Each Spring, the Psychological Science Department at Mesa Community College hosts a symposium. At this event, students present psychology research and other creative projects that they have completed in their psychology classes. Some of these presentations involve speaking to an audience, while others comprise posters. Various learning resources from the department are also on display. The Symposium is also a place for you to meet transfer representatives from four-year schools and learn more about psychology from your classmates and professors.
In our Spring 2023 Symposium, presentations were given on topics such as, "Adverse Childhood Experiences and Academic Achievement in College Students", "College Student Note Taking Practices: Comparison of Typed vs. Handwritten Lecture Notes", "The Impact of Sleep Quality and Mental Health of Collegiate Students Categorized by Employment Status, and "The Relationship Between Department-Provided Psychological Resources and Stress in Urban Law Enforcement Officers". A special guest speaker, Jef Gazley, who spoke about Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Neuro Emotional Technique (NET).
Here are a few pictures from the 2023 Symposium.
