Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services at Mesa Community College offer a variety of services designed to meet the academic needs of deaf and hard of hearing students.

Upon request, we provide sign language interpreting or computer-assisted real-time translation (CART) services for qualified students. To request services, you must schedule an intake appointment with Lisa Hitzler and complete the Student Contract form below. No services will be provided without the intake appointment or completed form.

The student agrees to the following guidelines:

  1. I will submit an INTERPRETER/CART REQUEST FORM for each service date/time. My request must be submitted two (2) weeks in advance of an ongoing class and one (1) week in advance of a special event.
  2. In the event of a change in the interpreter/CART request date or time, the student is responsible for notifying the DRS Interpreter Coordinator of the change within a minimum of two (2) working days prior to the event date.
