Program Notes:

  • Applicants may not directly apply to allied health programs such as Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Paramedicine, and Veterinary Technology. First, international applicants must apply to a general academic program (for example, Associate in Science, Associate in Arts, or Associate in General Studies) and later, must apply to and be accepted into an allied health program. Acceptance into an allied health program is not guaranteed.
  • International students are not eligible for the in-state tuition rate and are charged the out-of-state tuition rate. Financial aid or scholarships are not available for international students.
  • We may request original documents to be mailed to us directly.

Admission Requirements

1. Proof of English Proficiency:

For admission to an academic program:

Must meet one of the following:

  • TOEFL - minimum of iBT-70, CBT-173, or PBT-500
  • IELTS Academic - Overall Band score minimum of 6.0
  • Duolingo English - minimum 100
  • Note: students who are admitted to an academic program are required to take our placement exam - Accuplacer- when arrive to be placed into appropriate first-semester classes. Your Accuplacer Writing score must be at least 3.0 and Accuplacer Reading 231 to be eligible for academic admission. Otherwise, you must take the CELSA exam for ESL admission.

For admission to MCC English as a Second Language Program (ESL):

Must meet one of the following:

  • TOEFL - from 20 - 69 iBT, below 97 CBT, or below 400 PBT
  • IELTS Academic - Overall Band score 2.0 to 5.5
  • Duolingo English - 15 to 95
  • At least 6 (six) years of English language instruction as shown on school transcript(s)
  • Note: ESL students are required to take our MCC CELSA English Placement Exam when arrive to determine their level before registering for classes.

2. Official Transcript(s):

  • Official high school transcript and certificate of graduation are required and must be in English.
  • The completion date of secondary education comparable to the U.S. high school must be indicated.
  • Only an original transcript with English translation by a certified translator is acceptable.
  • If you have obtained a bachelor's degree, you must submit your university transcript and/or degree certificate AND a statement of purpose detailing the reasons for pursuing our program.
  • Transfer students must submit transcripts from all U.S. colleges and universities attended.

3. Copy of Current Passport:

  • Provide a photocopy of the identification page of your passport showing your legal name, passport number, and birth date - click for example.
  • Your passport must be still valid for at least 6 months.
  • Transfer students must submit a copy of their visa and signed I-20 (all 3 pages).

4. MCC Sevis Transfer Eligibility Request Form

This form helps determine your transfer eligibility. If you are transferring to MCC, please download the form here, complete it, and email it to our office at ie-admissions@mesacc.edu.

5. Evidence of Financial Support:

In compliance with the Department of Homeland Security/SEVIS regulations, all international applicants on an F-1 student visa must provide evidence of sufficient funds available for their studies. International students at MCC are required to show sponsorship for a minimum of $30,219 per year. The exact cost changes slightly from year to year due to changes in tuition costs.

  • Complete the Evidence of Financial Support form and obtain signatures as needed.
  • Provide an original letter on official bank letterhead showing that the student (if self-supported) or the sponsor has sufficient funds on deposit to cover tuition and living expenses while in the U.S.
Financial Requirements Notes:
  • A minimum of $30,219 in U.S. currency per year plus any dependent fees (an additional $5,000 for the first dependent and $2,500 per additional dependent)
  • Applicants must obtain housing on their own as Mesa Community College does NOT provide student accommodations. Applicants who plan to live with a friend or family member in the United States may complete the Room and Board Agreement and are only required to submit a bank statement showing $13,019 per year (instead of $30,219).
  • Funding NOT acceptable: stocks and bonds, securities holdings, investment trust, insurance, IRA/Roth IRA retirement accounts, and property or employment income.
  • Financial documents must be issued within the last 6 months before the official school start date.
  • International students are not eligible for the in-state tuition rate and are charged the out-of-state tuition rate. Financial aid or scholarships are not available for international students.
  • While all efforts are made to present accurate information, changes in tuition and fees are subject to change without notice.

NOTE: For the visa process, the American Embassy or Consulate will require another set of original financial documents.
