Daconta, Lisa, 2012: Investigations of Biodiesel Preparation from Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil is a mixture of organic compounds called esters and alcohols isolated from the seeds of the jojoba plant, which is native to the Sonoran Desert. Lisa investigated and optimized the conditions to successfully prepare biodiesel from jojoba oil. The results of her work are now used in a laboratory experiment performed by students taking second semester organic chemistry at MCC and have been published in the Journal of Chemical Education.
