Program Assistant - Learning Enhancement Center

Job Summary:
The Learning Enhancement Center at Mesa Community College is hiring a Program Assistant to work in the Spring 2025 semester. This position provides reliable clerical assistance and data entry support for the Embedded Tutoring Program.

Essential Functions:

• 70% Develop and organize spreadsheets under the guidance of the Embedded Tutoring Program Coordinator; Accurately enter data into various spreadsheets; Enter embedded program activity and visit data into TracCloud; assist in organizing data for report generation; pull student usage reports from TracCloud for analysis and reporting purposes
• 20% Provide administrative assistance, including room reservation for embedded tutoring sessions and engaging with embedded tutors to ensure activities are tracked and recorded in a timely manner; Assist with data collection and research tasks related to embedded tutoring
• 10% Engage with embedded tutors to ensure activities are tracked in a timely manner; provide front line customer service to students, tutors, and staff involved in the embedded tutoring program; performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• 1) Current MCC student or recent graduate
• 2) Experience in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for data entry and spreadsheet creation
• 3) Experience managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines
• 4) Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

• 1) Experience with TracCloud, Microsoft Office, Google Suite Programs
• 2) Experience working in a collaborative environment and supporting a diverse team
• 3) Experience providing office support or working in a learning center/ tutoring environment
• 4) Reliable and punctual, with consistent availability during school year

Special Working Conditions:

• The Program Assistant position works in person at the Southern & Dobson campus. -Must be dependable and available during peak times throughout the semester. -Position is funded by SENDAS Title V grant and employment is contingent upon availability of funds.

Embedded Tutor - Learning Enhancement Center

Job Summary:
Mesa Community College is hiring several Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry Student Learning Facilitators to work as embedded tutors during the upcoming Spring semester. These positions provide in-person and online tutoring for Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry courses in the Learning Enhancement Center and support students in the classroom as assigned.

Essential Functions:

• 85% Provides tailored tutoring support to students in an assigned course section; Attends class meetings as assigned and based on modality; Provides in-person and/or online tutoring to students in the Learning Enhancement Center while implementing effective study strategies; Utilizes effective communication skills to help students understand complex material; Works with a diverse population of students, faculty and staff.
• 15% Delivers review sessions/workshops, provides asynchronous support, and creates resources for assigned course section as requested; Maintains student attendance for review sessions/workshops and tutoring records; Engages students in instructional activities using educational technology hardware and software programs such as video conferencing tools, ConexED, Google Workspace, Canvas, TracCloud, etc; Provides student status and recommendations to program leads and collaborates with instructors.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 1)Successful completion (grade of "A") in a course where an embedded tutor will be assigned. Spring 2025 openings are for the following courses: BIO181, BIO201, BIO205 MAT15x, MAT213, MAT187, MAT220 CHM130, CHM151, CHM152, CHM230, CHM235
• 2) Knowledge of course content and materials in the subject area of biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics
• 3) Good communication skills and the ability to help students understand complex material.
• 4) Patient and respectful of varying levels of student content knowledge
• 5) Current student at Mesa Community College.

Desired Qualifications:

• 1) Successful completion with a grade of A in prerequisite courses for the embedded assignment course, such as the courses below: BIO181, BIO201, BIO205 MAT15x, MAT213, MAT187, MAT220 CHM130, CHM151, CHM152, CHM230, CHM235, CHM236
• 2) Knowledge of instructional methods used in the classroom at MCC
• 3) Faculty recommendation
• 4) Knowledge of effective study strategies
• 5) Experience providing quality service in a fast-paced environment.

Special Working Conditions:

• Embedded tutors may work in one of the LEC locations on the Southern and Dobson or Red Mountain campus and support students in the classroom as assigned. Tutors will work in-person and provide virtual tutoring from campus.
