English Week 2 Day 4

Sharing lesson plans in small and large group discussionsDr. Roger Yohe, Acting Vice President of Academic Affairs, started the final day of the 2015 Foundations for Student Success English Summer Institute by thanking the faculty for their commitment to teaching excellence with their attendance at the Institute.

The English faculty took teaching into their own hands by spending the bulk of the day sharing lesson plans with each other in small and large group discussions about what they had learned over the past two weeks and how they plan to implement some of the valuable information they received.

The purpose was to generate many new ideas to help faculty reach the same course competencies using innovative approaches.

Following this, the group discussed the future of composition in developmental education and some strategies for making continual professional improvement, like peer-to-peer observation over the coming academic year.

All in all, it was a very productive two-week training for the English faculty and another successful Summer Institute for the Foundations for Student Success.
