Reading Day 3

Beth Alsen and Helice Agria

Learning togetherConceptual Frameworks

Beth Alsen and Helice Agria, both from MCC’s Center for Teaching and Learning, presented on Conceptual Frameworks to the Reading faculty at this year’s Foundations for Student Success Summer Institute.

The workshop helped faculty understand how to align course materials, assessments, activities and assignments with learning objectives, so that everything done in or out of class builds course competencies.

Helice engages the groupThis session was a follow up to last year’s Institute where faculty learned how to create clear and measurable learning objectives from the competencies of the class.

This year’s workshop provided guided practice on how to improve a class using conceptual frameworks, whether it be online, hybrid, or face to face. In addition, it enabled faculty to think about the activities they do in their classes so that students are always working on things that develop critical course competencies.
